The Banov grading system is the most typical means of classifying hemorrhoids by severity. Grade three hemorrhoids must be manually reduced (squeezed) when defecation is done to allow to withdraw in the anus. Grade 4 hemorrhoids call for surgical procedure as they are external to the body and can't be manually reduced.
